Windale is located 13.5km to the Newcastle CBD. It is the last suburb left in Newcastle where a house can be bought for under $400,000. Located 21 minutes from the centre of the city of Newcastle. Windale is shedding its path of the working class, housing commission suburb it was, to quickly gentrifying neighbourhood.
Houses are the most common dwelling style dominating Windale along with a variety of older & newer semi-detached dwellings. 68% of dwellings in the area are houses. 12% are semi-detached and 8% are Units, and 12% other/commercial. Age mix for the area is 0 to 29 yo 40%, 30 to 49 yo is 23%, 50 & above is 34%.

King Edward Park is a large park overlooking the city and Pacific Ocean. Take a walk from Honeysuckle along the foreshore all the way along the break wall past the Nobby’s Lighthouse. Newcastle also has its own state reserve named “Blackbutt Reserve” after the trees that grow there.
Newcastle boasts some of the most well serviced schools in the state with also many private and Catholic options. The Junction Primary is locally renowned for its terrific culture and Newcastle Grammar has quiet prestigious reputation. Newcastle also boasts two selective state schools with The Hunter School of Performing Arts having produced some high-quality professional talent and Merewether High being Newcastle’s equivalent of James Ruse. Windale sits right near Hunter Sports High a school focused on sporting achievement.
Price growth in recent years has been big in Windale with prices increasing 37.6% in the five years to now for houses and 24.6% for units. Residex notes Only 0.18% of properties in the suburb are currently on the market with an average time of 7 days on the market.
Residex notes the median house price now sits at around $375,500 for houses. The median unit price is $316,500 in Windale.
