So where are the top-end property markets in Sydney and what is the attraction?
Sydney’s East contains a wonderful selection of luxury properties with direct harbour frontage and beachfront access. Point Piper’s Wolseley Road contains the most expensive real estate in Australia – including one home that’s worth over $100m. Just mention the phrase Sydney’s Eastern suburbs and it is synonymous with luxury property.
If you are considering the best high-end properties in Sydney’s East – think Darling Point, Bellevue Hill, Woollahra, Vaucluse, Double Bay, Rose Bay, Point Piper, Elizabeth Bay, Dover Heights and Potts Point. The highest quality schools, exquisite restaurants, bars, parks and retail strips make the East a highly desirable location.
Just over the Sydney Harbour bridge is a special enclave of Sydney’s elite suburbs surrounded by stunning waterways. This prestige area is also home to the Prime Minister’s House at Kirribilli Lodge. The best high-end suburbs in this region are Mosman, Balmoral, Cremorne, McMahons Point, Kuraba Point, Waverton, Wollstonecraft, Northbridge, Hunters Hill, Riverview, Lavender Bay, Kirribilli and McMahons Point. An enviable mix of renovated federation and modern luxury homes pepper the slopes of the lower north shore. High-end buyers are attracted to the Lower North Shore because it offers premium waterfront locations, strong connectivity to the city, easy access to public transport and wide array of restaurants and cafes. North Shore prestige buyers love the tree-lined streets, the high-quality schools (some with the best rankings in NSW) and the ease of access to shopping hubs.
Less than 20 minutes by ferry from the Sydney CBD is arguably the most desirable prestige suburbs in Australia – Manly and nearby Clontarf. Where else will you find immediate access to both the harbour and surfing beaches along with a vast array of restaurants and cafes, all in a relaxed environment? A little further north you will discover beautiful Pittwater with spectacular waterfront homes in Bayview, Church Point and all the way up to the world-renowned suburbs of Palm Beach and Whale Beach, where luxury holiday homes to the rich and famous are abundant.
Heading just west of the city over the Anzac Bridge is a wonderfully vibrant and eclectic mix suburbs in the Inner West. The more expensive pockets include the prestige suburbs of Pyrmont, Balmain, Glebe, Birchgrove, Haberfield and Annandale. The luxury suburbs adjoining Sydney Harbour provide amazing views over the city at night. Many older properties have been knocked down and rebuilt to a very high-end standard of luxury to cater for growing demand from local buyers. Steeped in history and charm are the suburbs of Stanmore, Petersham, Haberfield, Leichhardt and Summer Hill which provide a rich heritage appeal amongst a family friendly community.
