Vaucluse is located in the more affluent Eastern Suburbs region of Sydney. Bordered by Watsons Bay to the north and the Tasman Sea to the east its elevated position provides for spectacular views of both the Pacific Ocean and Sydney Harbour.
The majority of houses in Vaucluse are freestanding with a wide variety of architecture, offering anything from small Californian Bungalows to Architect designed estates. Apartments account for 35% of housing in the area and range from old Art Deco blocks, to modern boutique developments.

In the north-west corner of the suburb, Shark Beach and Nelsen Park offer a great spot to relax and enjoy the Harbour views. The suburb also includes a stunning cliff top walk with ocean views beginning at Clarke Reserve and heading north to Watsons Bay. Other facilities include the Diamond Bay Bowls Club and tennis courts at Samuel Park.
