Gymea Bay is located in the Sutherland Shire, approx. 27 kilometres south of the Sydney Central Business District. The suburb takes its name from the adjoining Gymea Bay, a small bay on the north side of the Port Hacking estuary.
Houses are the most common dwelling types here (87%). Most of the dwellers are families and elderly couples.
According to Residex, Gymea Bay experienced market growth of 4.8% from May 2020 to April 2021. This market movement has been consistent with a 5.1% growth per annum over the last 10 years.

Gymea Bay is considered a home to various childcare options in the Sutherland Shire region. There’s the Gymea Bay Public School, Kirrawee High School, and Gymea Technology High School.
According to Residex, the median prices in the last 3 years both for houses and units here are rising continuously, which ranges from $1.2M - $1.4M. In the next 5 years, the market is set to grow 5-6% p.a. Typical median prices for 4 bed houses is around $1.8m.
